HELOCAST operations
Dropping boats, and yourself, out of helicopters.
I was recruited into Special Forces as a first generation Mexican and Guatemalan American, into a new kind of unit — one designed to be dropped behind enemy lines and set up somewhere it would not be resupplied.
HELOCAST is what it sounds like. The boat goes out of the helicopter, and then so do you, and you find each other in the water. It reads as dramatic written down and is mostly procedure while you are doing it.
I took a camera to a lot of it. Many cameras were sacrificed in the process.
That is where the photography started, and the photography is what eventually became the sculpture.
